Scope

Trigon was appointed to work with a contractor to develop a base build fire safety strategy for a new-built aviation terminal. The facility will be a 2-storey building for a VIP terminal including bar, restaurant, offices and back-of-house facilities. The building is served by two protected stairs. The fully glazed elevations give full views of the airfield. The building’s exterior features double-glazed curtain walling, solid metal insulated panels and a curved design, to complement existing structures on the airport site.

Our responsibilities included:

• Undertaking a review of the base build design options.

• Liaising with the contractor and architectural team for the base build design from RIBA Stage 3 to 5.

• Liaising with client, the design team and Approval Authorities to ensure that the detailed design for the new terminal achieved compliance with both fire safety legislation, client’s and airport’s objectives.
