    Trigon Fire Safety is an independent Fire Safety Engineering Consultancy specialising in solving unique fire safety challenges for all building types and uses.

    We are looking for a Surveyor / Site Fire Safety Engineer who will provide support to our lead fire safety engineers (Directors, Associates and Senior Engineers) in the review and survey of fire safety provisions within the built environment.

    The role

    As a Surveyor / Site Fire Safety Engineer you will be part of a team providing the highest quality advice whilst ensuring life safety is always our priority. Typical day-to-day tasks will include, but are not limited to:

    • Support Chartered Engineers in the on-site delivery of fire safety strategies for a variety of different buildings and sectors.

    • Review architectural drawings and sketches.

    • Undertake on-site surveys of fire safety precautions, either of buildings during construction or retrospectively of existing premises.

    • Support Expert Witness matters through undertaking site inspections, considering defect identification and potential causation.

    • Write technical notes and prepare reports of the site surveys.

    • Attend site visits and inspections with support from senior fire engineers.

    • Assist with the preparation and development of fee proposals.

    • Communicate with clients and design team members in the form of phone calls, emails and meetings.

    • Manage your own time and workload planning.

    • Understand and follow Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.

    • Consult statutory guidance documents, supporting British Standards and Codes of Practice.

    • Consult fire protection system manufacturers installation information and supporting fire test evidence.

    • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism at all levels.

    • Key contact for multiple clients.

    Qualifications and experience

    As a minimum you will be expected to have:

    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Building Surveying or equivalent qualifications.

    • At least 5 years demonstrable experience undertaking surveys of fire safety provisions.

    • Relevant qualifications in passive fire protection inspection such as NEBOSH Fire Certificate or equivalent.

    We are looking for an individual that aspires to work at the intersection between fire engineering consultancy and applied scientific research.

    This is a newly created role, making it an exciting time to join us and drive the business forward. You will be mentored by a Chartered Engineer and work closely with other Chartered Engineers, and also work closely with, and be supported by, Trigon’s Research Lead.

    Trigon’s research topics aim to improve our existing systems of work, address new fire safety challenges and technologies, create links between academia and industry, and identify how fire safety engineering could change to support a more sustainable construction industry. One of the research goals is to support wider community and share findings with wider industry.

    The Role

    Trigon is offering a unique position combining the challenge of fire engineering consultancy with the creativity and rigour of scientific research. As a Fire Engineer (Research) you will be expected to spend 60% of your time on fire safety engineering consultancy projects and 40% of your time on research projects.

    As a Fire Engineer, you will:

    Be responsible for developing fire safety strategies, reports, technical notes, letters, sketches and all the necessary supporting calculations, using the latest computer modelling software.

This role will support our daily operations, providing essential support across the business with a range of office and administrative tasks.  The Business Support team currently consists of two people.

    Main day to day tasks will include but are not limited to:
