Scope
Trigon was appointed by Glancy Nicholls Architects to provide fire engineering services regarding Woodside Library. The project is a 'translocation' of the existing heritage building built in 1883, which was dismantled brick-by-brick, transported, and rebuilt as a museum exhibit as part of the museum’s 'Forging Ahead project', intended to operate as an interpretation library/office.
Our responsibilities included:
Supporting Glancy Nicholls Architects proposals for the reconstructed stair, which was narrower than contemporary guidance would recommend.
Demonstrating sufficient vertical escape capacity for the anticipated number of occupants.
Ultimately, assisting in successfully achieving Building Regulations approval for the non-standard reconstructed stair.
Results
Trigon worked closely with Glancy Nicholls Architects to provide fire engineering input in support of the Woodside Library project, assisting in addressing key design constraints associated with the heritage translocation and reconstruction. This contributed to successful approval under Building Regulations.
