Scope

Trigon was appointed to work with Piercy & Company and a design team to gain successful planning application Telephone House reimaging the 1960s office near Old Street roundabout in Shoreditch, London. The design retains significant substructure, replaces the building above ground and introduces open lightwell in the centre of the building to use natural ventilation and daylighting to support ambitious reduction in operational carbon.

Our responsibilities included:

  • Undertaking a feasibility study of the proposed design of a high-quality building that will allow for multiple functions including co-working, retail, roof terraces and central gallery atrium.

  • Liaising with the design team to prepare an outline fire safety strategy suitable for planning submission to Hackney Council.

  • Review and support design iterations of the proposed building design, ensuring it could meet Building Regulations while achieving the architectural intent for the buildings.

Results

Trigon produced a fire safety strategy suitable for planning application which was discussed with a number of different stakeholders.
