Finsbury Circus Pavilion and Park Office

Client

The client, City of London Corporation, is the governing body of the Square Mile dedicated to a vibrant and thriving City. The client was keen to develop additional infrastructure around the Finsbury Circus area to support local businesses.

Scope

Trigon was appointed to develop a fire safety strategy for two buildings, the Finsbury Circus Pavilion and the Park Office in Finsbury Circus, London. The site is within a Grade II-listed green space as it remains the largest park in the City.

The Finsbury Circus Pavilion is a single storey café/bar constructed from natural materials such as stone and terrazzo. The work initially involved establishing relevant fire safety legislation and applicable guidance to develop a concise fire safety strategy which achieved compliance with the Building Regulations 2010, The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and met the client’s objectives. This included carrying out fire engineering analysis on the emergency escape lighting and fire escape signage, allowing the Pavilion to deviate from standard guidance, to create more discreet fire safety measures.

Results

Trigon worked closely with the design team to undertake this work for the two buildings. We have been able to assist the client and project team to create an architecturally appealing building whilst achieving a suitable level of safety.
