Client

London Borough of Hackney

Scope

Trigon was appointed by London Borough of Hackney to work with Maccreanor Lavington and the wider design team to develop a fire safety strategy for Phase 4 of the Colville Estate Regeneration Project in Hackney. The scheme forms part of a wider regeneration of a 1950s council estate and comprises two residential blocks with associated ancillary spaces. Trigon were engaged from RIBA Stage 2 through to Stage 3+, supporting the design team in developing a solution that balanced fire safety requirements with the client’s key objectives and architectural intent.

Our responsibilities included:

  • Undertaking a feasibility review of initial design options for the proposed development.

  • Developing and iterating an outline fire safety strategy in coordination with the design team to support compliance with Building Regulations while maintaining design intent.

  • Liaising with the client, design team, approval authorities and other stakeholders to align fire safety outcomes with project and regulatory requirements.

  • Preparing RIBA Stage 3 and post-Stage 3 fire safety strategies to support planning and Building Regulations submissions.

Results

Trigon provided fire safety engineering support throughout the design development process, helping to inform the integration of fire safety measures alongside emerging design features such as green roofs and PV panels. The final strategy supported the delivery of the architectural vision while meeting the required fire safety and regulatory objectives.
