65 Gresham Street

Client

JP Morgan Asset Management (UK) Limited

Scope

Trigon is working in collaboration with Squire & Partners on the refurbishment and extension of the existing 65 Gresham Street building. The project is one of the largest retrofit schemes in the City of London, with four new floor levels being added to the existing eight-storey building. Once refurbished the building will comprise circa 36,800m² of office, retail and ancillary spaces.

Our responsibilities included:

  • Working with the client, architect and design team to develop an outline and detailed fire safety strategy for Building Regulations Approval.

  • Undertaking advanced fire engineering analysis studies, including a time equivalence study and a detailed computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling analysis comparing different ventilation options for the firefighting shaft.

Results

The fire safety strategy principles have met the client's aspiration to incorporate large scale reuse and regeneration in the project, with more than 70% of the existing building's structure being retained. Trigon has delivered a detailed fire safety strategy which has successfully communicated the fire safety principles to all stakeholders from the client to the design team.
